Spring Film Styled Wedding Shoot

I got together with my lovely friend Jade of “The Kind Pear” to do a styled spring shoot in the almond trees. Our inspiration behind the shoot was simply “spring time.” We pulled light color tones of whites, blushes, greenery, peaches, and pinks. We had a bride (Jory), a little flower girl (Zoe), and even a baby mini pig! (Kevin)

We put Jory in two different wedding gowns and Zoe in two different flower girl dresses. The first gown we had Jory in was a white lace dress, it was a drop waist and was unbelievably flattering on.. We styled this with a floor length veil that looked just perfect with Jory’s long curled hair. Jory’s second gown was also lace but this one had an illusion cap sleeve and the most beautiful buttons up the waist. It was a natural waist A line with a plain tulle skirt and train. Both of them were absolutely stunning on her. Zoe’s first dress was a pink number that was lace on the top and tulle on the bottom, it was giant and came all the way to the floor. Her second dress was a simple white one and slightly shorter. She was just so cute in them!

Jory and Zoe had a fun time playing pretend as we took pictures of bride and flower girl. However, the icing on the cake was our little pig, Kevin. We all thought that she was the most adorable little piggy ever! (How can you not think that?!)We had a blast playing in the springtime afternoon light. As with any styled shoot, I shot all film. There isn’t an image that I didn’t love!

Thomas and Chelsea’s Film Maternity Session

Chelsea and Thomas are some of my “As You Grow” clients. I took them out to my cousin’s property in Keene, CA to do their maternity photos. There is nothing that I don’t love about this location. It just makes for the best photos!

Chelsea wore the most beautiful white maternity gown with her hair down and curled while Thomas wore a dark suit with a light blue button up shirt. They were SO cute! We wandered down by the creek and got some beautiful images of the soon to be family of 3. I shot mostly film…I just cannot get over how well it picks up color and skin tones. There is something so magical about film!

One of my favorite things about As You Grow clients is that I get to capture families as they grow and change over time. I am beyond excited to meet the newest member of the Copeland family and absolutely cannot wait to photograph the newborn session!

Alyssa and Scott’s Film Maternity Session

Alyssa and Scott are my cousins on my husband’s side of the family. They don’t live in town, however, they were home for Easter and Alyssa asked me to do their maternity photos. I was BEYOND excited to do them! Maternity photos are always so much fun, especially when it’s family that I get to photograph!

For the photos Alyssa wore a long light blue maternity dress that had a full train. It was absolutely stunning on her. She had a flower crown and the prettiest bouquet, courtesy of House of Flowers. Scott was in gray dress pants, a white longsleeve button up, and matching tie. They were just so cute together….as always!

We went out to my cousin’s property in Keene, CA..it is seriously one of my new favorite places to shoot. I ended up shooting almost all film for this session because the light and location were too perfect not to. The light was so soft and subtle and the sunset was just magical. We had help from Alyssa’s sister Erin…she was a pro at helping me style the gown. We had a great time hanging out and taking photos. Alyssa was a total champ…at seven months pregnant, got up on a rock in the middle of a bunch of wild grass just to get some photos!

I am so, so excited to meet our new baby cousin. His birth will be a great excuse to travel to Utah to visit, or maybe take some newborn photos! Congrats Scott and Alyssa!

Penelope’s Newborn Session

Penelope is one of the cutest baby girls I’ve ever seen…I may or may not be a little bias considering she is the first born of my good friends Alex and Eric. She has the CUTEST smile you have ever seen. We did Penelope’s newborn session in my studio. She was the first session in my space (making this experience even more special, if that’s even possible).

I, of course, shot film. Alex brought sooo many cute outfits because what’s more fun than playing dress up with a sweet baby girl!? There was tulle skirts, bows on bows, flowers, swaddle cloths, and so many other adorable things to pick from that we weren’t even able to photograph all of our options.

We photographed Penelope surrounded by a ring of flowers, it was super fun. However, my favorite pictures of her are in this super cute wooden crate with gray/blue fabrics all around her and the sweetest gray bow on her head. She didn’t sleep much during all of this but that’s okay because we were able to capture her pretty eyes and adorable laughing smile. It was so much fun to be able to capture such special memories with my two friends. I cannot wait to watch Penelope grow!
