Jeffrey and Lacey’s Park Place Almond Wedding

On Lacey and Jeffrey’s wedding day, the almond trees were in full bloom and the air was pleasantly warm; they had picked the perfect date for a Park Place wedding. Jeffrey and Lacey were married at the gazebo in front of their friends and family. Lacey wore a gorgeous mermaid dress with flowers from head to toe, which echoed the blooming almond trees… and her shoes, GUSH! Jeffrey wore a dashing grey suit with a white tie. Their coral, blush, and peach colors were vibrant and full of fun, just like the bride and groom and their bridal party. We had a great time goofing off with everyone and doing group poses, even copying the movie poster for Bridesmaids! We could not have asked for a more fun group of people to photograph in the blooms. The couple celebrated into the night, and Lacey even pulled a prank on Jeffrey during the garter toss…talk about hilarious reaction shots. We were also able to capture some amazing film shots of Lacey and Jeffrey. Chris and Mey’s Coyote Hills Wedding

It is always fun for me when I get to photograph my friends. Not only do I know exactly what they like, I get to be right next to them every step of their special day! Mey and I went to St Mary’s College together, and have been friends since our freshman year. When Mey got engaged, she asked me if I could do the photography and I was delighted to say yes!

Mey and Chris got married December of last year in their hometown of Fullerton, California. They had a full Catholic mass at St Juliana Church, and used black, white, and Christmas red in all their decor. Mey had asked her brothers to be her men of honor and Chris’ dad was his best man. Chris’ niece was adorable as the flower girl, and even helped me to get Uncle Chris to laugh during the groomsmen shots.

Mey wore a beautiful long lace dress with cap sleeves, and carried a bouquet of pine needles, green berries, and white roses. The bridesmaids wore long black dresses and kept warm with bright red shawls to match the red roses in their bouquets.

Mey and Chris’ reception was held at Coyote Hills Golf Course where they celebrated the night away with family and friends.

Craig and Courtney’s Almond Orchard Engagement

Spring is my favorite time of year. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and love is in the air! When my good friend Craig approached me about surprising his girlfriend Courtney with a proposal in the almond blooms, I couldn’t wait to document their special day. Craig told Courtney that we were taking some family pictures of the two of them and their son Carson. After we had taken a few of the whole family, I suggested we take a few pictures of the two of them. When they turned to face each other after a walking shot, Craig grabbed Courtney’s hands, dropped to his knee, and proposed! They popped a bottle of champagne and we all celebrated and took photos of the happy couple and the beautiful ring while Carson played in the orchard. I am so happy for Craig and Courtney and CAN NOT WAIT to celebrate with them at their wedding!

Gianna’s Almond Orchard Cake Smash

Gianna and I had such a fun time playing in the almond orchards while we celebrated her first birthday! We played with balloons, over sized chairs, and big wooden letters that spelled out ONE. She was adorable in her frilly little girl dress and her giant pink flower bow (which I am a total sucker for). Once we had documented Gianna in her pretty dress, it was time to change for the cake smashing! Gianna wore a tutu and a long pearl necklace that perfectly complemented the white cake with white frosting flowers. To make this occasion even more special, her mom made sure this was her first time tasting sweets! By the time we finished shooting, there was frosting all over her face and hands. We had a great time playing cake smash in the almond trees. Happy first birthday to this cutie pie!

Samantha and John’s Hart Park Engagement Session

Samantha and John celebrated their engagement with a beautiful photo shoot at Hart Park. I love it when couples dress up, and John and Samantha came dressed to the nines! Samantha wore a little black dress and John wore a dapper suit and a vest. They are a fun couple, and we had a great time taking pictures of them by the river. They even brought a football to copy the pose of their cake topper! I used film for part of this shoot, and I love the way it turned out. I have always thought that film just captures something that ordinary photos can’t – whether it is the light or the mood, it makes you feel as though you are right there. This was a magical day, and I can’t wait for Samantha and John’s wedding.

Styled Snow White Almond Orchard Shoot

Is there anything more beautiful than an almond orchard in bloom? Every February, we get our very own version of snow, and I am always inspired. This year, I collaborated with Gimme Some Sugar, House of Flowers, Simply Shabby Chic, and Enchanted Bridal Boutique to pay tribute to one of my favorite subjects: Snow White. Our model, Samantha Holcomb, wore the 2011 Snow White dress from the Disney Dream Collection by Alfred Angelo. We used colors inspired by the almond orchards; whites, creams, light pinks, and browns, then used bright red apples, lipstick, and florals to highlight our Snow White inspired theme. We even brought in a “magic” mirror and all of the photos were shot on film (my first full film shoot!)!!!
